This little fellows are super tasty and go well with anything, even on their own. But I have to admit, the best ones I have ever tried were in Denmark, from this little bakery for 10 Kr.- big, juicy and covered in milk chocolate, to die for!
Since I don't live in Denmark anymore, I have decided that I can't live without them so I must learn how to make them. Here's the result.
For the roll dough you will need:
And for the filling you will need:
- 250 gr. of flour
- 50 gr. of sugar
- 25 gr. of butter
- 1 egg
- a pinch of salt
- 100 ml. of milk
- 20 gr. baking powder
- lemon zest
First, we will mix all the dough ingredients in a big bowl and knead it until smooth, soft and elastic. Then, we will leave to set for about 30 minutes. Once the time has passed will stretch it into a rectangle of about 3 millimeters thick with a roller.
- cinnamon powder
- melted butter
With the help of a brush, will paint the whole surface with the melted butter, then sprinkle the sugar followed by the cinnamon to your taste.
When we are done with this, we will roll the dough and will slice it (about 2 fingers wide). Later, we will place the slices on a baking tray and will leave until they double in size.
In the meantime, preheat the oven at 180º and when the rolls are ready to be placed in the oven, paint them with egg and bake for about 15 minutes.
Such a simple and tasty desert. It will be the envy of your next brunch or dinner party :)
