You have some friends coming over, panic! nothing in the fridge to offer...
Here is your solution. These wonderfully quick and easy to make scones, perfect with any jam (I had strawberry! nom nom) or cheese!
They make a nice simple dinner-time snack, and will wow your visitors.
For a batch of about ten scones you'll need:
- 225gr self raising flour
- a pinch of salt
- 55gr butter
- 25gr sugar
- 150ml milk
- 1 egg to glaze the scones
And the process is fairly simple:
Pre-heat the oven at 220ÂșC.
Mix the flour and the salt before spooning in the butter. Add the progressively the sugar and the milk until you get a soft dough.
In a lightly floured surfaced knead the scones' dough, flatten it until you get a layer of about 2cm thick. With a shape cutter, shape the scones. When done with the first layer, knead the dough again and repeat until you've used all of it.
Place the scones in an oven tray, glaze with the beaten egg and bake for about 12 to 15 minutes (or until golden)
Let them cool down, and serve with jam, cheese or whatever you fancy!
Enjoy!
Easy peasy don't you think??
