In the past three weeks I've told you all about our ten day trip in (south) east Europe. Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.
Today I want to talk about a couple highly recommended day trips that can easily be done from Vienna: Graz and Linz.
Both within a short train ride from Vienna, they are both quite beautiful and interesting for a short visit.
Through the ÖBB SparScheine web you can find tickets for as little as 9 € per ride. And that's what we did.
After walking around town for an hour (that's all it takes to see the city) we made our way to the Ars Electronica Center (or also known as the Museum of the Future) where we got pictures of the back of our eyes taken, learnt about plants' growth, explored a model of the particle detector used in the project that studies the Boson-Higgs particle, and played with a 3D printer and tablets for 3D design...for a 5 € fee we spent a whole day without even realising time was passing!
They also have a New Media festival every year with the same name.
Oh, and don't forget to try the Schnitzel...delicious!
A bit bigger than Linz, Graz has a lot to offer if you like walking around, and great views.
It's a modern mixed with old kind of city. I'd recommend simply walking around and exploring the surrounding areas, you never know what you may run into. Oh and the candy store at the town square is a must!!
Any tips on what to see next time I'm around?? :)
