After a couple weeks of trying to make it, I finally managed to visit the Christmas market in town.
As you may know already, I'm heading home for a few weeks today so I thought, what better way to say Aufwiedersehen to this beautiful city, than by showing you around the beautiful Christmas Market.
It has been included in many travel guides as one of the European Christmas markets to visit, and it's not without reason.
Located in the market square of Bremen, it is surrounded by incredibly beautiful historical buildings, including the town hall with was included in the UNESCO's World Heritage list, and stalls decorated to transport the visitors to another time, snowy medieval small town Bremen (minus the snowy, unfortunately).
So, the other day after our day in Hamburg we decided to take a walk around, take some photos for you guys, and grab some warming Glühwein, the best so far I have to say, at the Bremer Ratskeller stall.
Lively people and street musicians made the experience stellar.
And the decoration was simply exquisite.
More music, laughter, children running around, trams that can't drive through, the smell of delicious food attracting you here and there... Fish, Kartoffelpuffer with applesauce, Schmalzkuchen, Crepes...
Blinking lights, carousels, music...Christmas is all around!
And if traditional Christmas markets aren't your thing, you can always walk a bit further to the Schlachte Zauber, a maritime themed Christmas market.
Did anyone say Arrrg? Pirates on board! Pirate food, drinks, and enjoyment!
Also a wonderful artisan market, although a bit on the pricey side.
The Weihnachtsmarkt will stay open until the 23rd of December, Monday - Friday from 10 to 20:30, Saturdays from 10 to 22 and Sundays from 11 - 20:30.
Also the Schlachte Zauber will remain open until the 23rd December, with opening times as follows: Sunday to Friday from 11 to 20:30, and Saturdays until 22.
Have you ever been to a Christmas market like these? Share your experiences down in the comments section ^^
